Centro Italia Yachting® specializes in enhancing catamarans, sailing yachts, and multihulls with technologically advanced and luxurious pools and hot tubs. Our engineering-driven approach allows us to create unique, safe, and high-performing solutions that excel both while sailing and at mooring. By carefully listening to our clients’ needs, we design custom installations that are true masterpieces of engineering.

Each project begins with a thorough understanding of the requirements of the captain, the owner, and the shipyard, resulting in lightweight, durable, and luxurious floating works of art.

Structures and Types of Pools for Catamarans

Our pools for catamarans and sailing yachts can be built in various configurations depending on hull type and onboard positioning.

MAIN TUB TYPES:

Transparent Walls and Panoramic Design

For both hull types—self-supporting or built-in—it is possible to construct the pool bottom and walls using glass or PMMA methacrylate, allowing water to overflow and create a stunning waterfall effect. This design enables panoramic pools with exceptional transparency and perfect optical clarity, while maintaining maximum structural strength.

Two main materials are available for the walls:

PMMA Methacrylate

  1. A thermoplastic polymer produced through bulk polymerization by casting.
  2. Ideal for the nautical sector due to excellent resistance to chemicals, UV rays, and weathering.
  3. Offers high optical purity (92% for colorless sheets) and easy bonding through thermoforming.
  4. Maintains outstanding optical and mechanical properties over time, ensuring unparalleled clarity.
  5. Comes with a 10-year warranty.

Laminated Glass

  1. Extra-Clear Float Laminated Glass, available flat or curved, tempered with transparent PVB.
  2. Colorless (slight green hue in classic versions) for excellent neutral light transmittance and high-quality color rendering.
  3. SGP reinforcement used for large surfaces, allowing tight radii and improved resistance to water pressure.
  4. Safety advantage: in the unlikely event of breakage, the glass does not release fragments, ensuring maximum safety.

Pools for Catamarans and Sailing Yachts: Systems and Technical Equipment

All pools and hot tubs by Centro Italia Yachting®—including filtration, hydromassage, air injection, waterfalls, and lighting—operate at a low voltage of 24/48 V:

  • 24 V: Typically used for smaller catamarans
  • 48 V: Employed for vessels over 40 meters

The Siemens electronic system provides fully automated control of all installations. It monitors motor loads, power distribution, and accessory operation, both onboard and remotely. A major advantage of this system is its ability to prioritize functions, automatically turning off high-consumption features (e.g., water heating) when not required.

For smaller catamarans, mechanical system management is often sufficient, while larger yachts benefit from the advanced Siemens electronic control.

Key Technical Features

  • Filtration and Hydromassage Systems: Can be integrated into the pool or housed in a dedicated compartment
  • Piping: Typically rigid PVC PN10 fixed with dedicated brackets; flexible PVC piping is used where space is limited
  • Electrical Wiring: Nautical-grade cables (CEI 18-49) connect electrical panels to pumps and accessories via conduits
  • Electrical Panels: Can be installed either near the pool or in separate compartments for optimal accessibility

Grounding and Electrical Safety

Centro Italia Yachting® ensures that all pool and hot tub systems are extremely safe and rigorously tested. It is possible to install the complete grounding system required onboard. Because seawater is a low-resistivity conductor, the catamaran’s hull acts as a natural ground, safely dispersing electricity.

IP Safety Standards Compliance:

  • IP68: For submerged components such as buttons, sensors, and lighting
  • IP56: For external components including electrical panels and accessories

This combination of advanced grounding and high IP-rated components guarantees maximum safety, reliability, and long-term durability for all onboard installations.

Backup Tanks and Automatic Covers

The stainless-steel backup tank is equipped with an independent filtration and heating system, allowing the pool to be filled at any time, regardless of other operations onboard.

Clients can also choose from automatic or semi-rigid covers that are:

  • Strong and safe
  • Walkable, optimizing available deck space
  • Designed to protect the pool while maintaining easy access

Onboard Automation and Home Automation Systems

Centro Italia Yachting® integrates state-of-the-art Siemens PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) technology, enabling complete automation of pool functions. From the yacht’s central control system, you can manage:

  • Water temperature
  • Lighting
  • Hydromassage and waterfall functions
  • Automatic filling or emptying of the pool

This innovative system allows:

  • Full interconnection of all pool systems
  • Network integration for seamless onboard control
  • Remote monitoring and assistance, ensuring convenience and safety even from a distance

Case Study: The Jacuzzi on the S/Y Katana Sailing Yacht by Centro Italia Yachting®

One of Centro Italia Yachting®’s most prestigious achievements is the hot tub installed on the S/Y Katana, a 60-meter ketch sailing yacht designed by Perini Navi and delivered by The Italian Sea Group in 2025.

This project presented a unique engineering challenge: designing an infinity-edge pool within an extremely limited space without a compensation tank—a first for a sailing yacht of this category.

Traditionally, infinity-edge systems require a compensation tank to maintain hydraulic balance and stable water levels. For Katana, our engineering team developed a compact, perfectly balanced hydraulic system capable of autonomous water recirculation, even with an overflow channel just 10 cm wide and 13 cm high.

This innovative solution, developed entirely in Italy, demonstrates how comfort, luxury, and functionality can be seamlessly integrated into even the most space-constrained sailing vessels.
